Heineken Museum Amsterdam
The enormous redbrick Heineken building hasn't been a brewery for a number of years. The building has been completely renovated and now serves as a museum. Part history lesson, part marketing, and part drinking experience - the "Heineken Experience" gives visitors a one-hour glimpse into the famous company and the brewing process. Along the way there are some unexpected surprises, such as the "Bottle Ride" that lets visitors learn what it is like to be a beer bottle. Take a seat on a moving platform and the follow the same route that each beer bottle in the brewery does. You'll also have a chance to test your beer knowledge, and learn something about the world's diminishing fresh water supply. But for many, the highlight of the tour is at the end, when you are invited to sample as much of the product as you would like.
There are two tours a day and they fill up fast. Come early and grab a snack at a nearby cafe while you wait.
